Rochard Speed Boat Hand-Painted Limoges Box

A sleek speed boat looks ready to race across the lake in this sporty porcelain box. It is a Rochard piece, a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box shaped and decorated in Limoges, France.

Full Throttle on the Water

Classic speed boats, with their long bows and polished lines, are a symbol of summer days on the lake and weekends on the bay. This miniature version captures that sense of motion and fun, and Rochard's lively style suits the subject well. It is a natural fit for anyone who counts the days until the boat goes back in the water each spring.

Dockside Notes

• Belongs in a boating, lake house or nautical collection
• Pairs with lighthouse, sailboat and anchor pieces

From the Lake House Mantel

Set it on a lake house mantel, a boat captain's desk or a shelf of nautical charts. It is a fine present for a new boat owner, a fishing buddy celebrating a birthday, or a retiree heading for a life on the water.

Strong Enough for the Spray

Limoges porcelain is a hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high temperatures, which gives small sculpted pieces like this boat their crisp shape and lasting strength.
