A cat sprawls across a ball of yarn, paws tangled and clearly pleased with the result. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, shows the eternal contest between cats and knitting baskets.
Tangled Up in Wool
Any knitter who has shared a home with a cat knows how this story ends. The cat and its prize are painted by hand, so the fur markings and yarn colors vary from one piece to another, each with its own playful energy.
A Knitter's Companion
Set it beside a knitting basket, on a sewing room shelf or near a favorite armchair. It pairs naturally with sewing machine, thimble and button pieces, and it fits in any group of cats at play.
Who Will Smile
Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
A knitter, quilter or crochet circle friend
A cat owner who has lost more than one skein to a kitten
Yarn shop owners and craft teachers also appreciate it as a lighthearted nod to their work. It is a cheerful reminder that the best laid knitting plans rarely survive a curious cat.
