Blue Pear Limoges Box Painted with Flowers

A plump pear glazed in blue and sprinkled with painted flowers turns an orchard fruit into something softer and more decorative. This is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, crafted in Limoges, France.

An Orchard in Bloom

Instead of the usual green or golden skin, the pear here wears a cool blue ground, with blossoms painted across its curves. The result sits halfway between a fruit study and a floral piece, so it fits easily into more than one kind of collection. Fruit subjects have long been a favorite in Limoges, and a pear painted with blossoms is a gentle twist on that tradition, pairing harvest and springtime in a single small form.

A Sweet Spot by the Window

Set it on a dressing table, a breakfast nook shelf or a blue-themed china cabinet where its color can echo plates and teacups. It is a pretty choice for a gardener's birthday, a Mother's Day thank-you, or a friend who decorates with blue and white porcelain.
